Why don't cordless phones have Lithium Ion batteries?

I've been wondering this. My cordless (granted it's a cheapy 900mhz) has ni-cad batteries, just like every other cordless phone I've seen. Since ni-cads continually lose their abiliity to hold charge if you don't discharge them completel before recharging, why haven't they gone to li-ion or one of the other battery types?

Well, if you wanna pay $20 for the battery for your $15 phone, go ahead. Mine all have NiMH though, so I don't have that problem.

I soldered up some NiMH packs for our phones, and got them to last nearly a month between charges. Then, I heard the cahrgers for those phones were geared more for NiCDs, so I made new NiCD packs for them. What a bust! They didn't last any time at all! I just made up the old NiMH packs and couldn't be happier, though they're not lasting as long as they did before. My phones do NOT go back on that base until they're nearly dead, whether they're NiMHs or NiCDs.
