Why don't AMD users worldwide stand up in support for AMD?

With all of these lawsuits and what not, I think AMD needs support. It's obvious that the newer/newest Athlon 64/FX/X2 processors destroy their Intel competetors in just about everything. I don't want to argue about this, but that's what I've gathered from my own experience, looking at modern benchmarks and other users' experiences. I think novice PC buyers around the world need to understand that they can get a much better processor at a much better price if they look into AMD. Pretty much every electronics store you go into sells PCs with Intel processors at insane prices, and if there are AMD processors, people are being mislead by the whole MHz myth. I don't really know how to go about this, but the world needs to know that most hardcore PC users choose AMD, not Intel.

Thoughts?

Sounds like high performance computing is his hobby.

You can support AMD by buying stock or buying AMD proc's, especially high-end ones (as they offer higher profit margins), and getting others to do the same. For me though, I'm just gonna let the courts handle it.

I do support them you jack-arse...I bought an X2 4400+ at 500+ dollars...The lawyers can handle the rest...

I do support AMD and own many of their CPUs.

However, even though they are faster than their Intel counterparts, it isn't fair to say that they destroy them.

People can play games and do work on Intel CPUs just as well as they can on AMDs. They may be a bit slower or cost a bit more, but they still work.

Ya dude I bought the 4000+ back when it was $700 some. Maybe I should have waited or got somethin a little cheaper. Oh well, I still oc it to a 4600+ (single core obviously).

Short of putting a full page ad in the paper all you can do is show a few people that there is an alternative to Intel. Like that old shampoo comercial goes, "Tell two people, and they'll tell two people, and so on, and so on......."

How can you recommend an AMD system to someone when hardly any OEM builders are making them?? When Dells are sold for great prices with those coupons, there's no AMD system that you could build to even compete with their prices.

The lawyers have their job, they need to get into the OEM computer builds to be successful. Of all the DIYers, AMD has a very large share. DIYers don't make up that significant of a portion of the overall PC market though.

AMD processors also don't "destroy" Intel ones for what computers get the most use for. For the average user, unless you're gaming, either one will do fine.

lets see....?..... yup back in 99' i had a K6-2, and a really cool t-shirt for AMD 3-D that people would ask about, well the T-Shirt is in near shreds (in a drawer)... now-a-days you can't find or see any type of AMD marketing other than enthusiasts' websites, and you can still hear the intel jingle-tones on TV as a reminder of what most sheep will follow... i guess as proud few, we can keep up the support by buying, and passing word-of-mouth... sometimes being the best is only second best depending on what's being applied or not applied... me thinks...

Intel rules all in the computer business, dell, gateway, hp, mac, etc. Anyways, my old 1.2 ghz amd athlon still kicks arse 🙂

I've been an AMD only user since the K5 came out. I've spent thousands of dollars on their products. And I've converted just about eveyone I know IRL into AMD users as well. I'd say I've done my duty.

see ma f*ckin rig....Supporting them ? Im f*cking mad paying out for that X2.

I wanna see a return from this hector, spend my money well.

If intel had a product that was faster and cheaper I would probably switch. The fact they don?t and are looking like sorry bitches right now makes me even prouder of AMD. Am a fanboy ? I?m after performance, Intel cant get me that at the moment. And probably when they do AMD will match them or may even surpass them, not to mention the price : performance ratio.

Intel doesn?t cater for my needs right now (gamer). They may do in the future, and maybe then I?ll take them more seriously. Do I feel an emotional loyalty to AMD ? the truth is maybe I do. I think it?s amazing how they have about a 10000th of the recourses that Intel has yet them beat them to boat on some many occasions in the last 2 years. That doesn?t mean to say I wouldn?t jump. I like BMW?s a lot, but right now with the design direction in terms of looks and that horrid interior and run flat tyres I?d probably get a Benz.

Yonah : speculation , speculation, speculation, speculation, speculation, speculation.

Prescott was suppose to be the final nail in AMD coffin. And look, Netburst died, Intel copied a whole lot of stuff and totally changed their design direction to match AMD?s course. Don?t believe the hype, I?m holding judgment until I see some numbers,

And of course AMD?s not moving at all, as if they don?t have any ideas of their own.

jeez clarkey, what'd you do, sell a kidney?

Check my sig... I bought AMD's top of the line CPU. If that isn't support, I don't know what is.

I've been using AMD pretty consistently ever since the Athlon 600 MHz. I did switch back to Intel for a while when it was Northwood Vs Barton though.

I'll tell you rite now that if Intel released a CPU that smoked AMD's offerings, I have no problem switching again. I'm a performance fan. I'm not a company fanboi.

I am showing my support. But I am not going to go on a marketing campaign for AMD. That's not my responsibility. If AMD can't market their own products, then someone who can will eventually buy AMD. That may sound harsh, but I really wish AMD would help themselves in the marketing department.

OK, I'm through ranting. I'll just say this. At the current moment (purely from a performance perspective), I really, really, like my AMD X2 CPU's.
