Why doesn't the number pad on my keyboard work???

I've tried two different keyboards on this computer and both of their number pads on the right side don't work. I press the num lock but the keys still don't respond. I changed a num lock option in the BIOS and it still doesn't work. When I press the buttons nothing happens.
I've got the Microsoft Internet Keyboard, Shuttle AK31A, AMD Duron 1GHz, 128MB PC2100 DDR.
What setting am I missing here?
Also, whenever I press the num lock key the little PC case speaker beeps, which I find kinda odd...

nope. The keyboards have worked before on the same motherboard, I just reinstalled the system so I think that there's a setting somewhere that I'm overlooking...

I'm thinking its pretty unlikely that the num pad key broke on two separate keyboards one right after the other. Also, the fact that the pc speaker beeps is really whacked up.

Basic troubleshooting. Have you tried the "dead" keyboards on another system?

BTW, did you install something like a 84key XT keyboard driver or some other funny international layout?

Two questions for you. Have you checked for any conflicts with the keyboard in device manager? Have you accidently activated Accessibility Options? Check the settings in START, PROG, ACCESSORIES, ACCESSIBILITY or the START, CONTROL PANEL, ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS.

Also, trying pressing and holding the NUM LOCK button for five seconds.

Hope this helps.

sweet. Thanks Boxxcar and everyone else who tried helping! It was the 'hold down key for 5 seconds' thing that was wrong.
