Why doesn't Rocky Balboa block?

Is he too good for blocking? Defend yoself foo

The very first time I saw Rocky I thought the fight scenes were realistic. But then years later I noticed he doesn't block a single punch and now it looks really fake to me.

He's not really a strategic fighter. He's more of a "I can take 3 million punches to the chin, fall down, think about my wife and kid/old mentor/fallen boxing buddy, jump back up and beat the sh!t out of you" type of fighter.
