I'd prefer edge-detect, but mlaa would be nice too.
Did ATi patent them or something?

MLAA is very old.... so its not patented.
I believe it was made to make text letters look better, cant remember if it was IMB or APPLE that first intruduced it.
Nvidia could do something simular if they wanted.
Its great for older games that dont have any AA.

No, but I suspect it has something to do with not wanting blurred images.Do you know why?
Which is fine by me. Have you seen their DX10/DX11 TransparencySS and SSAA modes? They're fantastic.🙂No, but I suspect it has something to do with not wanting blurred images.

Exactly that. MLAA is nice since it works on a few oddball cases like GTA4, but for everything else I'd rather have (Tr)SSAA. I'm hoping AMD will have something like that for the 6900 series, but we'll see.You mean this? It is nice.

It was more of an open question, but point noted.😛I've done much better - I've written an IQ piece about them.
Edge detect doesn't blur the entire image. No, but I suspect it has something to do with not wanting blurred images.
