Why doesn't Netflix use EZ-D??

wouldn't disposable DVD's make more sense than postage back?

mb the royalties for EZ-D is too high, but it seems like with Netflix's volume they'd get a discount.

 
netflix allows you to keep DVDs as long as you want, so you can watch them whenever, and however many times, you like. without paying extra fees.

having them die after a certain amount of time would ruin this, and its one of the reasons i use netflix. if i get busy, i can watch the dvd later. if i realy like something, i can watch it a few times. we got the incredibles on DVD one week for the kids to watch and they loved it, i probably ran the thing a dozen times over the next couple of weeks because i kept forgetting to pick up our own copy.

i wouldnt have been able to do that with EZ-D once id opened it. it would have been useless after a couple of days, whether id wanted to see it again or not.

bah to that. ive also started DVD series of tv shows and taken a few days to finish them, this would make that impossible.
 
uhg i looked at getting netflix again. but the price was way to high. i was on a $9.99 for 3 dvd's out. now its $19.99 for 3 dvd's out. WTF.

It does not matter. You can still watch them when you want. The DVD does not start to 'expire' until you open it. You can let it sit there for 4 weeks. Then when you open it you only have a certain amount of time to watch it.

3 at-a-time (Unlimited) for $17.99
when was it ever 9.99 for 3? I was on since they pretty much started an I'm sure 4 out was like $18.

They do have to make money you know.
 
they get a bulk rate on the postage anyway
it isn't like they pay $0.37 per DVD each way, they get a lower rate for volume i am sure
 
their library is huge. they'd have to make a lot disposable discs to make it worthwhile. somehow i doubt it would be economical. plus..isn't that only single layer? most dvds are dual layer. if single layer then you are renting a lower quality product or one stripped of extras. i wouldn't be a customer if it were like that.
 
I wouldn't touch any disposable format with a 10 foot pole.

Although, I usually tend to buy my DVDs. I like them to be on the shelf when I want to watch them.
