Why doesn't Namecheap allow you to re-sell your domain to them?

I have 2 domains on Namecheap, and after a few weeks, I realized they were kind of stupid, and would like to get rid of them. But the only way to "sell" your domain is to the community by putting it up on the Marketplace where you set your own price and sell to other users. This sounds good but think, if you have a domain name of something such as "timshomepage.com", nobody is going to rebuy yours most likely on the marketplace since all users usually list really high prices.

Now, this does seem "neat" but it is impractical in my mind. Why doesn't Namecheap allow you to "resell" you domain back to them for some fraction of the original price, say $6 (which original price is $8.88)? They would automatically get a net gain of $2.88, plus they could re-sell the domain as new, thus making $8.88 AGAIN.

Does this not make sense to anybody? If I were CEO of Namecheap I'd initiate this plan in a second (OK well after I got ATOT's input b/c I'm sure I missed something).

Thoughts?

What if no one else wants to buy those domain names because, like you, they realize they're stupid?

Namecheap would still make a profit (yes smaller) but the domain would still be up for full price again, and eventually, somebody will buy it

uh, nobody wants your stupid domain, so they'll just take their chances and get the guaranteed $8.88 instead

1) Do not use NameCheap's domain seller service.
2) Sell your domain elsewhere like http://www.dnforum.com/
3) Ask the buyer to register for a free namecheap.com account
4) "Push" your domain to them for free.
5) ...
6) Profit?

I'll be on Ventrilo if you have any further questions

Because namecheap doesn't actually keep the $8.88 you pay for that domain name. They pay a good portion of that ~$5-6 to ICANN and the domain then belongs to you for a year. If they give you back $6 for your domain, they'll be taking a loss as ICANN won't refund them their registration fees.
