Why doesn't my touchpad and track point work?

This is probably the best feature on my laptop and now I lost it 🙁 I recently installed win 2000 professional on my 2.5 years old R40, everything works fine except for the pointing device. I downloaded what I believe to be the latest version of UltraNav Driver and Wizard....installed them and still no go 🙁 What's going on here? I need to rely on an external mouse now 🙁 Did IBM/Lenovo stop supporting Win 2000 just now?

Is this what you installed?

Give that a try, maybe also uninstall any UltraNav programs before you install this.

Yeah, that's the one I have. I think my pointing device is a little corrupted. Even on the external mouse. Sometimes when I left click, the alternative menu will show up. The touchpad lets me guide the cursor, but no taping and the buttons don't work 🙁 I enabled taping in UltraNav Wizard and still no go 🙁

Also - make sure your Trackpoint and pad are enabled in BIOS.

also make sure you dont have it enabled so that the external mouse takes over when plugged in. I believe that would render the trackpoint useless.

Start -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> ultranav tab
Make sure that both devices are enabled. It may seem simple but I accidently disabled both one time.
