you should not have to settup ssid, if ssid is broadcasted on the router.. aslong as the windows see's and ssid, especially wit service pack2 it will create it automatically.
if the computer works fine in any other wireless environment, than i might be the router, or it if you have any 2.4 ghz phones, turn them off, move the router closer to the pc, play with the channel settings on the router and set the Preamble type to long, (channel 11 is usually best)
still does not work, but ur certine the computer works somewhere than open your window unplug the router and throw it out side for wasting you ur.
But if this compter cannot connect any where else, and you turned the button on than you have a BIG paperweight.
1. Does pc world wirelessly else where
2. Could it be the router
3. Could it be enviornment
