Why doesn't it suck as good as it used to?!?!

Okay, I have one of these little suction soap dishes that attaches to the side of the bath. Last night I was cleaning my bathroom (in anticipation of an upcoming termite inspection) and I was cleaning the tub to get rid of soap scum. I was using some cheapy Target Soap Scum remover. I didn't want any of it to get on my soap so I removed the suction soap dish.

After finishing up, I put the suction soap dish back in its place. But now it keeps falling down. I've tried to put it in other spots but it still falls down after awhile. It's like all the sucking power is gone. When it falls it makes a big clunking noise in my bathroom and it sometimes startles me.

How can I make it suck good again?

water the suction cups and wall first.

I tried that and it doesn't seem to help -- although it's still on the wall right now which is the longest it's stayed on there. Maybe it'll will work this time.
