Come on, I don't want to hear this... I know what I am posting about and where I am posting, as well as possible 'consequences', etc, so don't bother posting here to tell me to post it somewhere else! :| This forum is more helpful by far than any other, except for maybe GH for hardware related issues...
I posted it here because I wanted quicker and better replies, which I usually get... If I post in the OS forum about Linux, I get nothing and I really need help with it, so I posted here, and I got a lot of help! Now for my networking troubles, I've posted in the network forum before, and got next to nothing there as well.. There just aren't as many people that visit there... There are so many more people here, I get much quicker response, and no neffing, since the topic isn't neffesque anyway.
Anyways, I'd appreciate some help ... I just wiped my hd and stuck Linux on it. It's all I have at the moment. I'm posting this message from the P83 in my basement (24MB mem/Win95/IE5) because the net just doesn't work upstairs on the Linux box. Well, technically it does work, but not well enough. 90% of the time I can't go anywhere, and when I can, I can barely go anywhere at that (only a couple of sites work). And the sites that DO work, I can only browse and download at a maximum of 1.1-1.2KB/s so far... It's impossible to go anywhere, I can't even get an ICQ client or get anywhere... Dogpile was working last night, but Google wasn't... It's maddening!
And my network 'works' as far as I know, but I have no clue how to access the P83 from my Linux box! I can ping 192.168.0.2 (P83) from my Linux box. I'm on the P83 right now and I can ping 192.168.0.1, which is, obviously, the Linux box.
So they are 'working' alright I guess? But how do I do anything? Access the files I have shared on the P83, share the net from the Linux box (Although I may want to fix the speed first), etc?
Thanks in advance for any help ... And again, it would be more convenient to take it to email (rsi@vif.com).
