Why doesn't Internet Explorer save URL icons?

I have noticed that on my Favorites, each website (such as Google or Fark.com) has its own icon that goes along the URL link. But, those icons never stay there and they're always changing. Right now, I only have Google and Fark icons showing. But a few days ago, Google and Fark weren't showing and Slashdot, Anandtech, Toms Hardware icons were showing. How do I make them all stay? I want pretty eye candy.

From what I understand, these URL icons are tied to the history/temporary internet files. When cleared, the icon poofs, until the next time you visit the page. Unfortunately the icon doesn't always reappear when it's supposed to.

I would also like to see persistant URL icons.

Jesus, you *almost* had me for a second there.

😀

There may be other solutions, but look for a program called FavOrg. If you do a really good search, you can find it for free.

It was first published in PC Magazine for free, but they have since started charging for it.

Firefox has them. Have you considered trying it out?

Favicons work much better in Firefox, I recently switched and I'm liking it just fine. It handles them much better than IE, but not perfectly.
