Why Doesn't Crucial offer 512mb pc133 cas2 SDRAM? or does any vendor offer that?

I recently purchased an Abit KT7A-Raid board and wanted to to put a gig of ram on this bad boy, to my amazement the KT7A-Raid only has 3 SDRAM slots, I didn't realize this beforehand and Purchased 2 x 256mb pc133 cas2 sdram to start with and my intentions were to later upgrade to 1gig. Now that I only have one wlot left I need to purchase a 512mb piece in order to achieve this, now the problem is that Crucial doesn't sell 512mb pc133 cas2 only cas3. I Don't want to mix and match and would prefer the higher quality cas2 ram, does anyone know why Crucial doesn't offer this or if they ever intend to offer it?..what could be the reasoning behind this and lastly does any vendor sell 512mb pc133 cas2 that will match perfectly with the ram I bought from Crucial?

Thanks in advance.

I can't comment on what Crucial judges to be economic. If 512 MB is normally achieved by putting twice as many devices on a DIMM (compared to a 256 MB DIMM), then it will be harder to achieve cas2, because latency increases with the number of devices on the DIMM.

Sharkeyextreme listed a company called NeutronUSA that sells 512mb PC133 cas2, I'm just not sure if this ram will match witht he current crucial ram I have in my system..any ideas guys? damn, if I knew Crucial would introduce it soon I would wait.

I would not buy anything from NeutronUSA.

I bought some memory from them a while back and it didn't work as advertised. I complained and they said they would have to test it. After testing it they said it works fine and that I can either pay a 20% restocking fee and get another one or get the one I sent to them back PLUS a $50 testing fee.

What kind of BS is that? It freaking didn't work according to its specs and they arbitrarily said it was ok? Total BS! Avoid them.

72Chevelle,

Already took alot at the Mushkin site, the 512mb pc133 that they offer is only CAS3, I spent extra on the CAS2 ram from Crucial so I owuld like to match it with CAS2.

Just spoke to a crucial CSR about them carrying 512mb PC133 cas2 and they said they have been waiting on stock for quite some time, don't know how much truth there is to that but i'll probably wait a little while longer to see if they actually get it.
