Why doesn't Anand or Tom perform the Geforce>GloriaII trick?

I would really like to read an article from Anand or Tom (Pabst) on the two ways that seem to exist to convert a Geforce 1 (Elsa ErazorX) into a 'Quadro' (Elsa Gloria II), that makes it, among other features, capable to work with Elsa's MAXtreme drivers in 3DstudioMAX/VIZ. It won't cost'm much (almost nothing) but if they could show us that it works, it could save a lot of MAX/VIZ users a lot off money. Maybe more than overclocking a Duron or Thunderbird processor! A missed opportunity, thats what I think. Show us if its possible and proof if the Geforce and Quadro are one-and-the-same chip! :)

My guess is its a "good faith" issue. Companies usually price sites like AnandTech with hardware for evaluation. They won't look kindly on people who hack up their boards and cut into their profit margins.

I could understand that, but they (Anand & Thomas) are both drilling, sawing and cutting in Celerons, Pentiums, Durons, Thunderbirds, Mobo's, etc. So what's the big deal?

Anand and Tom can get hardware themselfs.
Companies can't write there own reviews (well you know what I mean)

So who needs who?

Is there anybody out there that is as curious about this as I am? Aren't there any 3DstudioMAX/VIZ users in here who own or plan to own a Geforce 1 card and would like to get it to work with the Maxtreme drivers and/or use AA-wires? Maybe somenone has tried this with succes and could share his/her experience...:)

Smurk, Those companies usually send Anand and Tom their hardware month/weeks before the release dates. So that?s why they want to have a good relation ship with those companies.

Also they get the hardware for free. Sure you think it?s not much for rich guys like Anand and Tom, but those benchmarking systems add up. In both of their reviews, they always have multiple systems (like 2, 1 Ghz Athlons in different mobos, 2 P3 1ghz systems with different ram and mobos, and other Hi-Low end Athlons and P3's. Also each system has GTS2's/V5 5.5k... From hi-end, 1Ghz's to low-end 550's.).

I can see Tom doing a review like that (cause that?s what he's good at:)), but I doubt Anand will do a riview like this.
