Every morning I get windows xp installing critical update KB828026. It's happened for the last 7 days at least.

Does anyone have any idea why It keeps installing this same update over and over?

Do you get any particular messages, error or otherwise?

Also, is this Home or Pro?

I would check the event viewer (control panel - adminsitrative tools) to see if there are any notes in there that might shed some light.

I believe there is something wrong on MS's websites with that update for WMP. It shows under critical updates for this computer, but when I go to install it (from the Windows catalog)MS tells me it is not for my system, although I have the applicable version of WMP. It isn't really needed anyway, IMHO, so I ignore it.

I had this happen a few months back.

Go into Add/Remove programs and uninstall the update.

Probably a good idea to reboot, ot just turn it off if you're done.

Thsi worked for me. Nest day it downloaded it again and was happy. I think something got corrupted related to the download.

I should say I don't remember which update it was. It was quite a while ago.
