Why does Xanga make IE take up 95% Resources?

I'm running a p4 2.2 ghz with 684 mb of pc2100 DDR ram and nothing else open except winamp and word. And everytime i look at certain people's xangas, IE decides to take up 95% of my system resources, slowing everything down.

Now the only other time IE did this was when i used real player (long gone) or opened an adobe pdf.
