Why does windows say I am connected at 115.2kbps when I only have 56k modem?

I have a 56k modem and a 56k connection a access4less, which by the way is working great for only 6 bucks a month, but anyway, I am currently connected, according to windows xp at 115.2kbps......wtf?

For some reason your modem is reporting its internal connection speed to the motherboard, instead of its connection speed to the remote system.

115 is DTE speed, better know as the port speed.

no, download speed is regular 56k.......about 5-7kb/sec...........what do you mean 115.2 is the DTE speed??.......isn't it supposed to give u the speed at which u connect?........im confused...
