Why does Win98 find this device every time I reboot?

Every time I reboot, Windows tells me it has found new hardware, Direct Memory Access Controller, and will install the software for it. This adds a duplicate entry in device manager with an ! mark.

This is with a Duron700@900 on an Epox 8KTA+ board. I'm using the VIA drivers that came on the CD.

my guess would be the incorrect driver is being loaded/installed for that device, so it thinks it's finding a new device each time. i've seen a similar problem with a SIIG scsi controller under win2k, which is not completely compatible, so every time the machine was rebooted it would find the card again. i know this isn't much help, but could be a place to start looking at least. what operating system is this occuring in?

Hi, I had the same problem...What i did was to remove the FIRST device and reboot...that corrected the problem. No more duplicate.
