Why does Win 2K previous folder always go to root?

Lets say I have a folder in Win2K. The folder has 100 sub folders. If I access a sub-folder, then hit the Back one folder button, I always go back to the beginning of the main folder so that I have to scroll back down to where the subfolder I accessed was.
What the hell? Is there any way to return to the main folder at the same location I left it??

And yes, I'm an idiot and dont know how to phrase the question.

It's because MS doesn't care as much about users as Apple, the KDE & Gnome folks. Plain and simple (though why KDE and Gnome need their own IE replicas is beyond me!).

Just goes to show some people like to drive into on coming traffic. And some people like to scream "WRONG FORUM" when they do. And we all love ATOT for it.

I had that link in my signature for the longest time.

I have *no* problems with the occassional question, but yes I would LIKE the right questions to go to the right forum. I too have been guilty of the wrong forum when looking for a quick answer.

I just HATED these little hissy fits he would throw yelling at people to post in the right forum.
