Why does water have a Exp Date on it?

Yep, I would think the exp date concerns the container it is bottled in more than the water.

That or the fact that bottled water is a great breeding ground for bacteria. Esp. in gas stations where sunlight hits the bottles of water.

Make you buy more of what the earth has more of then anything else.

OMG my water has expired, I cant drink that I must buy more.

And I just loved: Penn and Teller?s Bullshit: Bottled Water
A must see, if you haven't already 😉

BTW the top one at that link is a sample and the bottom one there is the entire water ep show.

Water can go "stale" for a lack better term. Maybe as mentioned, a chemical reaction from the plastic bottles.

I actually called up Poland Springs customer service with this question several years ago. They stated that it was a law in New Jersey, so they print it on all of their bottles.

Winn4r!

The plastic degrades over time and some of it can turn carcinogenic

thats it...the plastic is toxic as it breaks down

Same reason why you're not supposed to re-use a plastic water bottle.

As far as I know, yes.

EDIT: Wine is stored in glass bottles for decades, sometimes centuries.

The same reason canned food has an expiration date, so you thow it out and buy more.

If canned correctly food will last for years.

Canned food as an expiration date? I don't remember that.

EDIT: It seems only canned food that contain meats have expiration dates. Like Tuna or Salmon. My Salmon is apparently good until 2011.

We should all start drinking water that has gone through municipal filtration/cleanup, then distillation, reverse osmosis, sterilization and nanofiltration.
Yes, we should all do that.
