Why does utorrent keep calling home?

I can understand if an application pings a website on startup to check for updates, but this is different.

It keeps trying to connect to the utorrent.com server (since utorrent is owned by bittorrent now, PeerGuardian blocks access). Is this anything to be concerned about?
 
it's required for uTorrent's DHT function. Something to be concerned about? Personally, I don't think so as I believe the whole thing is just paranoia but it's up to you.
