I don't understand this. I really don't.

Could someone tell me the name of the last person that died fighting in iraq?

Over 1500 soldiers have died in iraq so far and their sacrifices has been shrunk down to 5 minute spots on the news. Instead we get this 24-7 coverage of BULSH!T.

Why do we care what happens to this lady? If we don't care about the people dying for a cause (and we don't .. the news always say "# has died in iraq")...why is someone that's arguably been dead for the past 10 years the center of the "life is sacred" discussion?

How is pulling the plug controversial compared to dozens marines that come back in multiple pieces?

EDIT:

I just saw one of her brothers saying how horrible she looks after not eating for 2 days. "Like a holocaust victim". Lets see a picture of the guy that got torn up by IED in iraq. Common, why don't we let america see why half of the 1500 people coming back from iraq ended up having a closed casked funeral.

Well, some people care about it more because they are faux compassionate media slaves with no sense of perspective... and some people care about it more because the case is setting extraordinary legal precedents that will have a direct, lasting effect on our lives.

And then there are the rare few who care more about the last person who died in Iraq than Terri Schiavo or the legal battle surrounding her. Out of the second and third type, I'm not too sure which is better.

It ranks up there with Roe Vs Wade and ironically actually they are one in the same.

We are at a pivotal point where either Christain Fanatism completely takes over the U.S. or this will be the start of the downfall of that movement.

I agree with you, but as dmcowen674 implied this case really is important in showing how far religious extremists have come towards creating an American Taliban.

When Congress and the President feel free to try to overturn eight years of Florida court decisions, to pander to the extremists and impose their beliefs on the rest of us hrough the state instead of through preaching and good works, it shows how much our freedom is at risk from our own government.

Ashcroft tried twice to overturn Oregon's right-to-die law, this is part of the same pattern.

Don't forget the 150,000 people who die every month in Africa from AIDs, Malaria, and Diarrhea alone.

Of course we only care about christian white people though....

need i say more?

I guess we don't need care about black people dying in africa or hell even in detroit. If the dead girls name was LaTanya Peterson, she wouldn't get 5 minutes on the 10oclock news.

Pretty white girls get all the love. Hell, even Terri was quite fetching before the heart attack.

But you're probably right, if it had been Latoya Peterson or Shanaynay Smart, American wouldn't give a sh!t.
