Why does the word 'post' get changed to 'signature' in a sig?

See the above question detailed in the thread title.

What is the purpose of this?

btw I ironically re-wrote my sig to overcome this peculiarity in the (unwritten?) signature rules.

Fixed. See last post.

Allisolm, it is still doing it.

This is the sig that is previewed in my UserCP:

Before.jpg

This is the sig, which is dispayed in my posts with the word 'posts' changed to 'signatures'.

After.jpg

Very weird.

Edit: I've just realised that this should have probably been created in TFI rather than PFI. Sorry about that.

Edit 2: I've changed my sig back to the re-written version without the word 'posts' in it.

This is the sig I see in your user file:

Edits occur above to correct grammar, spelling and typographical errors because I'm pedantic or to 'cover my ass'.

All information contained in the above post may be fact or fiction. Viewer discretion is required and the poster cannot be held responsible for damage to property, personal or financial loss, loss of limb, disfigurement, death, zombie uprising nor any other apocalyptic mishaps, which may arise as the result of the above post.

Have a nice day. :D

I know because I changed it to get over the problem with the posts / signatures issue.

I wanted this in my sig:

Hard to isolate or correct the problem if you keep changing the sig.

I just put post and posts in my sig to see what happens.

edit: and magically posts turned into signatures but post did not. Will tryto find someone who can shed some light on this.

edit- notice the difference with capitalization? Where "signatures" s in my sig was "posts" with a small "p".
In case it helps.

I changed my sig with 'Posts' captialized and it doesn't get changed, so the issue is only when 'posts' is in lower case.

I don't know if this is related, but try entering the word "LOL" by itself in a post. When published it will come out "lol" as all caps are lost.

Another weirdness in the code?

It sounds like a weird filtering issue on the OP's end. Never heard of anything like this, and no one else seems to be experiencing it.

I'm pretty sure it's happening to everyone that has tried it so far.

This has been fixed. Apparently it was due to a bug in a plugin that is used here. I know it didn't affect a large number of members, but it was an annoyance to some and a bit of a mystery. Thanks to our web developer for solving it.
