Why does the sound cut out

My mom has an older IBM aptiva, with like a 400Mhz K6-2, I recentlly disabled her onboard sound and installed a phillips Rhythmic edge, because the onboard sound was not capable of playing multiple streams. Anyways, the install went fine and everything seemed okay, now several months later she is telling me that the computer often has the sound just stop, and in order to get it back she has to restart the computer. I was able to reproduce this one time, she said it oftens happens while polaying the game collapse on yahoo games. I went there and sure enough I heard a small sound, I can't quite describe, then had no sound, restart and it comes back. But she also said it is not limited to collapse, it happens while doing other things as well. Whats wrong, and how can i fix it, I can provide more info about the computer by request.
 
Thanks, the next time I am up there I will try to update the drivers, does anyone know where philips would have thier drivers available for download?

I hope its not the card, it's brand new
