Why does the Language Bar keep re-appearing?

JEDI

Lifer
i'm building a new system (amd x2 5000/amd690g mobo).

after i installed security updates, realtec audio, and IE7, the language bar appeared (to the left of the clock section).

i deselected the language bar. i reboot. language bar reappears.

why? and how do i get rid of it?

I've had that happen to me also. I just keep shutting it down, and after awhile it doesn't come back  Not very scientific I know, but I don't know what the correct fix is.

When you say deselect are you opening up the settings and setting it to disable or just unchecking the toolbar?

The Official MS solution(s)

unchecking it. quick launch and desktgop stay unchecked when i reboot. language bar comes back!?!?

edit:
"You cannot close the Language bar if you have installed an Input Method Editor (IME). "

whats IME??

Do you have Office installed? Check and see if it is a component of that.

If you shut it off from Control Panel, it will stay off forever.

I'm on Vista, but there is an icon for Regional and Language settings in Control Panel. You have to dig in about two or three layers deep and uncheck a box and it's gone after that.

I'm sorry about the vagueness, but it's a little different in Vista and I can't remember exactly what to click on.

Edit: The thread appears to be dead, but for those that need it, I'm on an XP machine now.

In CP;

Regional and Language Options
Languages Tab
Details Button
Language Bar Button
Uncheck everything there

Back out and Apply when possible.
