Why does the hard drive churn so much when opening a web page?

When I open a new tab in IE7 the hard drive seems to really go crazy. Just seems like opening a web page shouldn't be that demanding on the drive.

I mean it churns more than when I open MS Word.

This could be a couple of things.

1) have you tried other browsers? It could be IE7 specific... I haven't ever used IE7 so I don't know :)

2) Defrag?

3) Are you having this problem with other apps? If so, it could indicate a failing hard drive.

are you hitting the pagefile? how much ram are you using? how many plugins do you have installed with ie7?

my laptop, for a basic install seems to be as fast as it was with ie6...
