Why does the government need to know your race?

When you fill out your census form they ask your race why? If you fill out a government employment form they ask for it to. If our Constitution says all people are created equal why does the government need this info?

Why not collect demographic data? Income, occupation, # bathrooms, education, # of cars, # of TVs, whatever . . . are you afraid your government will use that information against you? Many government programs allocate funds based on the number of people in an area needing a particular service . . . funding for homeless shelters, services for autistic people, development funding, etc. I'm not saying the government NEEDS to know your race . . . but who cares it's meaningless anyway.

I can think of no reason that the government could use my race as a way to provide me a service or anything of any use.

It's difficult to have a minority preference/set aside/quota/affirmative action system in place if the government does not consider race. Same with extra penalties for "hate crimes".

You see, no one is supposed to consider race when hiring or college admissions unless it is beneficial to minorities then one is allowed to consider such things. It's our good friend, the double standard.

One is that they use the information to draw lines of where each race is concentrated. The use of this is to determine funding for Section 8 housing. If you move a black family into a neighborhood that's 80% white, you get almost double the rent. Gives owners an incentive to buy nicer houses in better neighborhoods and give them a better chance. Doesn't do any f'ing good. But hey I'm making money off of it. I don't know why so many people support these programs and just BLOW tax payers money on it. On one property I get, lets say $670 rent a month in total. The government pays $650, she has to pay the other $20. She's been late over 20 days each, for two months in a row. $20 f'ing dollars of her own money. The gov. pays $650 of her rent, and her ass can't pay $20 on time. And it'll never get better. Just like that Kids in the Hall sketch "SCREW YOU TAXPAYER". I'll take the $650 a month and not worry about the other $20.

Because racial profiling is a key ingredient in affirmitive action programs.

Canadian and Mexican are Nationalities not races.

So are Korean, Chinese, and Japanese but if I add -American on I get an ethnicity and a nationality. Outside of Webster's it means very little (except to the individual) other than don't get caught as a Chinese-American with outdated nuke weapon designs on your home computer. Many people on this board will call every derivation above . . . Asian; reducing each person to their race; a term with even less practical utility.

Other than the Section 8 landlord . . . which is a welfare program and majority of benefits still utilized by white families (black represenation is disproportionately large) . . . what other federal giveaway is being horded by minorities and denied to middle America via demographic data?

Actually, like many gov't forms, they got it wrong the first time and it's hell to get it corrected.
Originally it was meant as a question: "Race?"
a) 3-legged
b) sack
c) 100 yard
d) stoplight-to-stoplight
