why does the fundamental theorem work?

just a thought while I was doing my work?

so by the theorem, the ingeral from a to b = F(b) - F(a). the result is that this tells you so many things....given the function, it tells you the area, the probability, the mass, and all that.

now, I really dont know *why* it works? why does the difference work? Is there like a visual explanation for it?
