Why does summer heat always come as a shock to you Yanks?

It's something new to report on incessantly, don't complain. It keeps all the really really depressing news about the state of the world at bay, if only to see yet another death toll calculation from the current heat wave...

theres heat and then there's HEAT.

normal heat for this area is mid/high 80's during the day time and mid/high 70's at night.

today it was in the high 90's / low 100's during the day and didn't cool off at all at night.

Yup. Jersey is usually below 90's almost all summer. Just maybe 1-2 days. This is a heat wave thats lasting like a week... with a crapload of humidity which makes it 2x as bad.

Ain't nothin' new to me in South Texas

Try working outside in it. You get used to it.

My sophomore-senior year in HS I worked at Sea World San Antonio in park operations. I was outside 95% of the time. Once you've been out in it for about a week, you're body just gets used to it.
