Why does Stone Cold Steve Austin Keep hugging Vince McMahan?

Hi, I was watching the wrestling and just wondering why they keep hugging?

Stone Cold is supposed to be "a champion of champions, a man's man" and the tough guy of the WWF, so why is he acting in this way? It seems to contradict his own image as a tough guy?

If I am being nieve then forgive me.

PS What must Debra be thinking everytime these hugs happen? She doesn't look very pleased!!

Austin is constantly seeking McMahon's approval. By being extra nice to him he is securing his spot as the top guy.

Since he came back in September '00, and was going on his route to be champion again, he was afraid that he might not make it due to all the adversaries he's been through, and had to depend on McMahon to get him the title back.

Now that he has it back, he feels he has to do a little something extra, and he feels keeping on Vince's good side is the key to keeping it, as he basically controls the WWF (storyline wise of course, but also in real life)

I really don't know why he keeps hugging him, but it makes for some damn funny television.

It would've been funny if Austin said HERO to throw Kurt off like one of those old Bugs Bunny things.
