I'm baffled as to why anyone in their right mind would give Russ 'elite' status, but as for the 20,000 posts... it helps to have absolutely no life

There's no deserving, there just is. All these descriptions of what an Elite is suppose to be wasn't drawn up by the Administrator, it was decided by Nefs in OT. Now do you think Nef's, many who never visit any other Forum, are going to decide what qualifies a person for an Elite? Well if you do think again. Being an Elite didn't mean you have to be a nice guy, it sure doesn't mean you had to be popular with other members or measure up to the standards of assholes like Texmaster ,who's besides himself because Moonbeam got it (which pleases me to no end). It just meant that the Admin felt like giving you a title..plain and simple. Now he might feel like giving you the title because you are helpful, because you crunch a lot of Numbers for Team/Anandtech, because he thinks your funny or just because he wants to for any reason. There is no criteria for getting an Elite Title. In reality an Elite isn't any more valued than someone who's a lifer like Yakko. As far as I'm concerned he's as important here as any Elite and the fact that he doesn't have the title really means nothing (hell this is Anandtech, not the US Army).

So go ahead and pretend that the Elite Title is is a special prize only attained by excellence in ??? if it makes you feel better. But if you never get it for some reason it just means you didn't find favor with the Admin..plain and simple
