Can somebody explain to me why they recommend forwarding ports?
GTA Online requires the following ports to be open:
GTA Online is the only game I have issues with random disconnects and stuff. Just now I was at the end of a huge race and got disconnected due to an "Unknown Network Error"
Isn't port forwarding something that used to be done (like back in the day, years ago) only when you wanted to host a server yourself? And don't modern routers have some kind of protocol that replaces port forwarding so it shouldn't be necessary anymore? I have an Asus RT-N56U, pretty modern and decent router. I have read there can be security issues with forwarding ports, or it can cause issues with other software, should I really be following Rockstar's advice to forward ports on my router when only their game is having issues?
