I was always confused about this. As i sat atop that ceramic/plastic rim, these stupid questions pooped, i mean popped into my head. And when your stomach hurts, is it actually your stomach, or is it one of the intestinal tracts? Mannn, i wish howstuffworks had an article on this.
There are different 'pains' caused by different things. If I understand what you're implying by the thread title, you ate something fatty or greasy like a pepperoni and cheese pizza, or a McDumper Sandwich, then a little while later you had an undeniable urge to do a #2, your bowels started to cramp/hurt and you probably began to sweat a little, maybe feel a tad nauseous or light-headed.
Happens to me when I eat something very greasy. I've become intolerant of very greasy/fatty foods. I was on a health kick for several months where I avoided greasy foods, ate a lot of fish, rice, pasta, and vegetables. The first time I ate a Quarter Pounder after this health kick, I thought I was going to die. I was doubled over for two hours on the toilet sh-tting my brains out, palor, heart racing, sweating and feeling like I was going to pass out.
That's your gall bladder over-reacting to the fat and grease by injecting a ton of bile into your small intestine, the motility of your intestines goes into overdrive to move that stuff along and out the other end faster. Yes, it can really hurt.
