As someone who frequently visits the US through NY state primarily (Buffalo/NY area) I've been puzzled by this myself. My last trip a month ago had me paying $3.39 in NY State, then $2.9X in Erie, PA and $2.39 at Sams Club in Ohio the next day.

If it makes you feel better, at the same time the equivalent price of gas here in Canada was still over $4 a gallon.

Blah blah about no right to complain, we know it's lower in the US than many other areas, go talk about that elsewhere. This thread is asking why it's HIGHER in NY than other states, not whether England pays 5000 pounds/litre or not.

Link!! Schumer says it's zoning laws.

It's about 2.20 here in Southern-Tier NY.

I remember back when I lived in PA (still very close to the NY border) that gas was always more expensive in NY. It was kind of amusing when someone literally built a "Smoking Joes" right on the border in PA. People would come over the border for cheap gas and cheaper cigarettes.

Somewhat contradicts the aplomb of my other. Basically nobody has a clue why, which is pathetic. If I was in charge of this for a day I could find out the answer. Call some gas stations, find out their wholesale cost, call the wholesalers find out their cost, this is not fvcking neurosurgery.
