Well i know why, $$$.
Anyway, i have 3Dtv Play which is limited to only 5 activations and that is it regardless you have to buy another serial key, same hardware or not, doesn't matter. I went through that before as i don't always image depending what different i'm trying to do, like different OS or dual boots..etc.
So i thought i would see about backing up the activation out of curiosity, which i assumed is probably in the registry or i'd have to backup multiple files and reg entries..no big deal i just wanted the details.
So i asked Nvidia and got the typical generic response which to me seems they obviously were working around my question by providing an answer that has nothing at all to do with backing up.
It's funny because the last time i used up the activations i asked Nvidia about it since it was all used on the same hardware and got the generic response of telling me to buy another serial key because of the 5 activation limit..etc..which is full price btw. So i ended up doing so. But here when asking how to back it up so i don't have to burn them up they tell me to just use the same serial key. lol
I'm not really reformatting, if i did i have image but i was curious about backing it up specifically and find it amusing they work around my question which now feels like it's not the point, but the principal of the matter considering it's the same hardware. Pretty shady imo. I replied with the activation limit in question and i bet they won't reply to that.

This is Shoaib, assisting you with the query you have.
I understand from your email that you would like to back up the NVIDIA 3D TV play software,as you are reformatting your hard driver.
After reformatting your hard driver, you can use the same activation key to reinstall the NVIDIA 3D TV play software.
Please let me know if you face any difficulties.
I look forward for your reply to assist you better.
Best regards,
Shoaib,
