Why does Newegg ship everything separately?

newegg gives no shipping discount for buying multiple items. you just add up the shipping costs as if you were shipping each item individually. initially in my view, that put newegg in the same catagory as those guys on pricewatch that offers low prices but makes up for it by charging high shipping.

but newegg does actually ship each item separately. WHY?!

why don't they put things in 1 box? or if you're ordering a system (case, mobo, chip, etc), you can stick everything in the box the case comes in.

They drop ship some items.

I usually get everything in 1 box.

This last order was split into 3 parts, tho.

size limits. if you order a lot of bulky items like cases it may be physically impossible to do one box

fedex gives incentives based on # of packages shipped. theres a quota, so that may be another reason

One time i ordered a processor, heatsink, and PSU from them

The PSU and Processor came in a huge like 20 x 20 x 20 box

and the heatsink came in a box by itself that was like 20 x 12 x 6
