Why does newegg not offer retail box HDDs?

It seems like they're offering less considering that I only found like 1 desktop retail drive in those results...

All you get with retail drives are a manual and a cable. Manual is useless and and the cable can be had for much less by going with an OEM drive + separate cable.

a lot of times, OEM drives have a 3 year warranty vs. a 1 year retail warranty

Um, I thought it was the other way around...

Actually, the OEM drives do have the long warranty. The retail ones come with the same warranty (IIRC), but they are also more expensive, making them a poor choice when making buying decisions.
