My wife had the same problem for a few weeks - finnaly she went to DR and they gave her penicillin - she felt better with-in 12 hours

Gargle with hot salt water several times a day and see if it doesn't go away in a few days.

update: so i saw a doctor yesterday.. It was a pain in the ass to find one 1000 miles away from home, but I ended up going to some urgent care/ family practitioner that you could just walk in. Of course they didnt take HMO's, so I ended up paying $175 for the visit. I spent 30 minutes filling out BS paper work, and then I waited a half hour to get seen. Once inside, I was literally only there for a 5 minute visit. I told her that my throat had hurt for 3 weeks, and she wrote me a prescription for antibiotics, and I left.

What a crock of ******.. $175 for that? Oh well, at least after less than 24 hours, the sore throat is basically gone, so it must have been some kind of strep throat... course I wouldnt know tho cuz no lab work was done.

Go see a doctor. I had no idea that strep had fever associated with it, I've had strep twice and the only symptom I had was the throat.

My vote goes to something like a cut from eating chips or nachos.
I've had that before, and sometimes it takes a while to heal. Freaking sucks.
