Why does my terrier like to roll in poop?

Cause he is classified as a RAT-DOG, so he tries to camouflage himself as something familiar to the bigger animals due to the fact he is not going to be winning any fights anytime soon.

That being said he is cool looking.

My Poopy rolls around in pup.

Rolling in feces, though, is really very common. Possibly a dog?s ancient instinct to mask his scent, which would then enable the animal to sneak up on their prey without detection. Even if your dog does not hunt, she may not like the way that she smells?especially if you?ve just given her a bath! Or she just likes the smell of the feces.

Heh. Every once in a while the white shi tzu at my dad's house comes home brown.

They always have a stupid look on their face when you open the door and see crap smeared all over them.

ROFL!

Anyway - because of the whole scent masking thing. But in honesty, because it's a terrier (terror).

My question is, why do dogs like to EAT poop.

Pets tend to emulate their owners. Especially so when you are talking about dumb pets like dogs. So you should stop rolling in shit at home.

Our husky does the same thing. He rolls in dog shit, bear shit, dead salmon, dead seals, etc. Nasty.
