Why does my system resources go down so low? compared to other peoples computers?

Well compared to other peoples computers, my system resources seem to fluctuate very quickly..... usually falls down 50% while my friends computers seem to stay towards the 70% range. Is there something i have set up wrong?

Run MSCONFIG and disable some of the background tasks and services that are executed on startup.

Things like Winamp Agent, Real Player SmartStart and things like that can all be disabled.

weird enuff.. but i had all those disabled for a while

A clean format always helps with that. Also, there are some drivers (such as DSL crap) which really sucks up resources (like that winPPPOE crap that they force me to use!). Sometimes there isnt much you can do
