Why does my search engine change from Google to Yahoo sometimes?

I am not sure if this is a security-related issue...

So I realized my search engine (Google) sometimes changes to Yahoo...

And I don't have any antivirus software on my pc....

So I have no idea what caused this to happen

You have either a rogue extension in Chrome causing it or you are infected with malware. Try downloading and running Malwarebytes.

I've seen a few reports recently of people being infected by HyperFractius and it causing that switch to Yahoo search.

It's a bit more work to remove than your typical browser extension, but do look through your browser extensions to see what's there.

One thing HyperFractius does is changes policies so it can't be one-click removed like an extension normally would be.

In about Chrome (if you hadn't done something yourself to cause this text, which I have done back when I disabled their Cleanup Tool aka ChromeCleaner which excessively scans your system for problems, without even asking or offering a normal way to shut off that feature), it'll read something like Your Browser Is Managed (or Managed By Your Organization) if HyperFractius is installed.

Thanks for the information...I am not familiar with HyperFractius...but I will Google it later...

Also, someone mentioned it could be due to Mcafee...because they like to change the Search Engine to Yahoo....
