Every time i try and make a mpeg, svcd or vcd (i havent tried DVD yet) out of this movie i made thats about 38 minutes with about 108 diff clips, it freezes at all different times

well...sometimes it just freezes but most of the time it gives me the Studio Program File has encountered an error and needs to close and when i click on error report it says:
Appname: studio.exe
Appver 8.6 32.0
Modname: ntdll.dll
ModVer 5.1.2600.1217

my system is a 2600+ w/ 1 gig of ram

i used enditall when running studio and turned off my screensaver so there is absolutely nothing running

wuts the deal here?

Hi,
What are your specs?
OS, video card, sound card?
Do you use one hard drive or do you have two? RAID?
A little more info and may be I can help.
I have used Pinnacle products for years but now I have moved to Canopus + Premiere Pro.

Is the original movie AVI or MPEG? 108 different clips? That many in MPEG could cause problems. S8 likes to have the source video as AVI. I assume you are running 8.10.4?

Pinnacle Studio 8 is notoriously buggy. It is imperitive that you update to the latest version.

I have worked on some MPEG format video in Studio 8 and found that it seemed to really bog the program down. I now try and convert all my video prior to editing in Pinnacle 8.

The forums on Pinnacle's website are usually a very good source of getting info on their products. Here is a link:

I've got Pinnacle 8. That program has more ways to crash than any other I've tried! You can check out their forums and the latest beta, but basically, either the program will be reliable for you or you'll be another member of the "Pinnacle hates me club (and vice versa)".

Computer Specs:

Windows XP Pro
GF4 Ti4200

i was really optimistic

then

same problem

maybe ill just use a diff program...any suggestions? preferably an all in 1 like this where u can capture, edit and make dvd in the same proggy

Many people like Ulead DVD Movie Factory for under $100. If you can get a student discount, there are some big buck programs that look really attractive (Adobe Premiere?). There are many freeware/shareware programs to edit movies, encode, burn, but I haven't found ANY that will also do menus.

I use S8 all the time and it works for me. I use it for DVD and sometimes WMV. For SVCD, or MPEG1/2, I use TMPGEnc.

I would try upgrading to S8 8.8 which is on the Pinnacle site and reachable by using the Check for Updates menu component.

Also check the Pinnacle forums. There is a Studio forum that will cover issues like this.

Yeah, Studio 8 is very sensitive to overclocking. It would be a great benchmark for overclocking stability if it wasn't so buggy.
