Why does my MZR90 start recording right when it gets into record mode, even with REC SYNC?

I'm useing an Aureal SuperQuad with Optical Out and the supplied optical cable, I've tried setting the optical out on 32/44/48 and it didnt make a difference at all....

Hold down the pause button while you slide the record switch over.
I have a MRZ-70 and I have had bad times with synchro record.

Prolly because the line ahs noise and ur md thinks that it's already getting a signal. Just start it manually as soon as u play something form the source.

tried holding pause into it still didnt work, I think the Sony just might be more sensitve, I used to record with my Aiwa bookshelf set and it would catch the track marks when I used my Winamp plugin, but the sony wouldnt, Anyone know how I can silence my computer?

ok here is what you do. press play to start the machine and then stop it so it is on, but idle. press end search to get to the end of the minidisc. hold down pause WHILE you depress the little red button to slide the red bar to the right. the rec light should FLASH. that means you are in standby rec mode. no matter what you feed the silly machine, it should not start until u unpause it to record when you want. let me know if this works for you.

That standby only seems to work if I plug an analog cable in, but when I plug my optical cable in, it starts regardless....
