Why does my LCD look so much better since I switched to XP?

Flame me all you want, but I've been using Win2K for the past 3 years. Lately I've come to see the XP light, as it were, so I did a format/reinstall.

It's like I got a whole new monitor. I seriously can't believe how much better it looks. It's hard to describe accurately...it's just somehow easier on my eyes and...something. It's not cleartype either because I've used it with it on and off and it still looks better than under Win2K. I do have cleartype on though since I prefer the way fonts look.

You had something misconfigured (maybe ClearType wasn't really on?)

I've used both Win2K and WinXP, and other than the flashier GUI elements turned on by default in WinXP, they look the same.

Win2K doesn't offer ClearType does it? Like I said before, I've tried it under XP with cleartype on and off and I like cleartype better, but that's not the difference I'm referring to.

Ah well, guess whatever it is was specific to my box.
