Why does my laptop randomly "connect" to a fake network called "05b405490619"?

I've seen this happen to other PCs (read: not mine) the PC is clean (says A-squared, Kaspersky, SS&D, Spyware blaster, M$AS, Spyware Doctor, Spy Sweeper, etc. etc...) but this happens...is it my WRT54G? Because it has even happened with my desktop a few times...i say it's a fake network because i sometimes still have my connection un interrupted

It looks like a MAC address for the SSID. It could be an Ad-hoc network or an AP. Do you have the SSID of your Linksys manually set in Windows? If not, that would fix the problem.

Need more information.

what do you mean by "connect" to that network? that looks like a mac address, but it isn't registered to any company.

Sorry about not updating this...been at class.

Where do I set my SSID in windows? And what do I set it to? The "05b405490619" shows up in detected networks.

It's possible that one of your neighbors has a wireless network and that's the SSID of their router.

I guess I can't rule that out...but is there any reason why it would switch servers for no reason?

More likely you have let the OS to take control of the WiFi connections, set it to manual so it doesn't autoconnect.
