Why does my internet browsing slow down considerably when Kazaa is open?

Does this happen to anyone else?

I have DSL, and even if I'm d/ling something on Kazaa at 1-2 kb/s, my internet seems to be slowed down considerably, usually resulting in time outs to certain websites..

Yeah, uploading screws up speeds.

Try Kazaalite and disabling file sharing, or share a folder with only like 2 files in it (if you can, I don't know about Kazaa, only use lite)

I was having the same problem and found out that Kazaa Lite was using up about 90% of the CPU. I'm running Windows XP Professional, so I went into Task Manager.. Processes and right clicked the Kazaa.exe file. Then you can set the priority to "BelowNormal". This will let other applications like the Internet Explore to use the CPU when it needs it, but yet Kazaa still run smoothly. Hope this helps.

BTW K-lite != Kazaa Lite. It's actually a hack.
Check out the license agreement for K-Lite where it says "It is illegal to install this software."

when you are connected to Point to Point networks, such as kaazaa, ayour system is constantly sending and recieving data to others on the network ... you know, like ... every time somebody does a search for something ... it will send out requests to all the connected boxes to find the file .... that takes loads of bandwidth. That is one reason I for one, don't like P2P. Its way too inefficient.

also if your using speed up (auto source searching program) that takes up alot of memory plus how much ram you got and what type of dsl. Out by me you can get full or fractional dsl lines.
