Anyone know? I am running windows 2000 and the drive is only showing up as 31.85gb both when I use a windows98 SE bootdisk and fdisk and when I am in windows2000 disk management. I got the drive from newegg and the label does say its a 60.1gb drive. Any ideas? I'm running Windows 2000 SP1 (Computer doesnt have internet access yet so I couldnt update to SP2). This is on the EPoX 8KHA+. Thanks!!

I never own an ibm but maxtor has this jumper that limits u to like 30gb for older system, did u check for a bios release cuz older bios can't go over 33GB and it might be ur mobo bios for now... unless u partition it to 30/30 ?

I am not sure of this. But I do own a IBM 60GXP 40G. It seems to me the jumper has something to do with the capacity.

FAT32 max partition size in 32GB. Try formating in NTFS, or if you need FAT 32, partition the drive into 2 or more logical drives.

That's not true. I've had 80GB partitions in FAT32.

I havent even tried to format anything yet at this time. All i've tried to do is fdisk the drive. I will check the jumper settings. Are the settings located with the jumpers to set master/slave or is it another set of jumpers somewhere? I already packed up my computer to bring back to college with me so I cannot check. Thanks for the quick responses!

Whoops! I was wrong. I wasn't thinking about Win2K, I was thinking about 9x

From MS Knowledge Base:

"You cannot format a volume larger than 32 GB in size using the FAT32 file system in Windows 2000. The Windows 2000 FastFAT driver can mount and support volumes larger than 32 GB that use the FAT32 file system (subject to the other limits), but you cannot create one using the Format tool. This behavior is by design. If you need to create a volume larger than 32 GB, use the NTFS file system instead. "

How exactly do I go about fdisking a NTFS partition? Doesnt that depend on how I format it not how I partition it? I havent even tried to format the partition yet. All I've tried to do is fdisk it in DOS and through disk management in win2k
