It just started doing this but the HD LED in the front of my computer never turns off. I just installed a 2nd HD for storage and a new DVDrom to replace my old CDROM.

First make sure the jumpers are connected correctly, sometimes there is a jumper setting for master on its own channel and master with a slave attached, then make sure that the cable is attached the correct way (red stripe facing the molex power connector)

I have a similar problem, except my HD is also being accessed which is causing major slowdowns on my computer. Check out my post, theres a lot of good advice there. Unfortunately I havent been able to solve the problem yet. Oh and I have a Western Digital 13 Gig hard drive.

I had a feeling the jumper might be the culprit, but after taking the HDD LED connector to the board off and then putting it back on again (the same way still), the LED works fine again. Thanks.
