Why does my hard disk appear in "Safely Remove Hardware" ?

I've recently noticed that my Hard Disk ( WD 200GB SATA2 ) appears constantly in "Safely Remove Hardware" in Windows XP SP1,
which is quite a problem, because each time I want to safely remove a USB device, I can accidently shut down the hard disk.

is there a way to remove my hard drive from that option ( it's not even an external drive, it's internal, so what is it doing there in the first place ) ?

Cant help you, but remember SATA can be hotswappable, so thats why its there.

Oh, what types of USB devices are you removing sometimes? I just pull them (like a thumbdrive) out when they are not busy.

Because it's serial ATA, serial ata drives can be safely removed... Thats the advantage of true serial ATA drives, they can be added in on the fly which if you think about it, is pretty sweet.
