Why does my CRT screen image buldge in the middle?

I just received an used Dell P991 CRT monitor.

Just turned it on and the image has a very noticeable and annoying outward buldge in the middle of the screen (top and bottom of screen).

Is this normal or was my CRT defective?

There are setting buttons on most monitors to correct for various distortions. Many have setting for pincushion, barrel, trapezoid, rotation, etc. If you didn't get a manual with it, check the Dell web site.
